Lou Reed – Austin Opry House on April 9, 1979. This great 12×18 piece is on premium matte poster paper and suitable for framing. It features great Danny Garrett art, a legendary artist and a storied Austin venue. No online ticket sales in those days. Tickets to the show were available at Inner Sanctum Records, Backstage Bar, The Austin Opera House and Discovery Records.
Danny’s notes from the show:
The great Lou Reed did such an outstanding show to a sell-out crowd on the ninth that they added a second show on the tenth, another sell-out performance. I was there at both shows; they were amazing. I was also there when Lou Reed and his band arrived at the club late on the evening of the eighth. Instructed where to stow some baggage, they came running back to the office, obviously freaked out. It seems there was a group of people moaning near the room they were directed to. In fact, it was a cleaning crew from the nearby Texas State School for the Deaf – their “moaning” was just them singing.
