Soap Creek Saloon Calendar (February 1974) Kerry Awn Art. This is the first in a series of Soap Creek calendars produced by iconic Austin print artist Kerry Awn. It’s February ‘74. That’s why it’s only 2 weeks long. It was a test run to see if they were popular. They were! Everyone in Austin soon had to have one each month. The calendars were a monthly love affair for over 11 years.
This is a great piece of Austin memorabilia from it’s musical golden years. The piece combines great art with ’70’s local musical acts and an iconic venue. Artists performing that month included Augie Meyers, Rex Foster, Greezy Wheels, Plum Nelly, Ramon Ramon and the Shakers from Baton Rouge.
This poster is offered on behalf of, and with permission by, Kerry Awn.
