Soap Creek Saloon Calendar (November 1976) Kerry Awn Art. This is Vol 3 No. 2 in a series of Soap Creek calendars produced by iconic Austin print artist Kerry Awn. It’s November ’76, and winter has set in in Austin.
After Kerry’s 1st poster these calendars became collectors items. You could find these in dorm room and apartments all over Austin. Everyone in Austin soon had to have one each month. The calendars were a monthly love affair for over 11 years.
This is a great piece of Austin memorabilia from it’s musical golden years. The piece combines great art with ’70’s local musical acts and an iconic venue. The poster features Marcia Ball and artists performing that month included Greezy Wheelz, Townes Van Zandt, Butch Hancock, Paul Ray & The Cobras, Delbert McClinton, Les Blank, Marcia Ball, Stoney Edwards, Lucky Roach, Uranium Savages and Gatemouth Brown.
This poster is offered on behalf of, and with permission by, Kerry Awn.
